More information
BCI is developing a family of gCORE processors based on the Grid on Chip architecture, from 8 to 16 cores that cover a broad spectrum of customer applications. Each CPU on the grid is a 32-bit RISC, with special instructions to accelerate multimedia processing. The high level of parallel processing performance allows developers to implement processor intensive tasks such as video compression / decompression, image processing, and
networking in software rather than expensive and inflexible hardware.
The advantages of replacing hardware with software are twofold; it can reduce cost by eliminating special chips, and it provides the flexibility to adapt to changing market needs quickly.

The gCORE processor provides the power and cost efficiency required for consumer oriented devices such as set top boxes and digital flat panel TV's. When a core on the grid is not in use, the gCORE has the ability to automatically shut it down, reducing power consumption and heat dissipation. Additionally, the gCORE's architecture allows BCI to put common system level resources such as PCI Express, USB, DDR2 controller, and serial ATA onto a single chip solution. The result is a smaller footprint and reduced system cost.

BCI's gCORE processors offer the scalabilty, performance, flexibility, and efficiency to meet the needs of next generation multimedia devices.
